Garden Route · Farriery

Balanced feet,
measured not guessed.

Barefoot trimming, shoeing and remedial work across the Garden Route, with the numbers written down, so you can see what changed and why.

Every foot on a levelled block
  • Measured, not guessed
  • Five-week cycle for most horses
  • Barefoot or shod: the foot decides

Why it’s different

Every foot gets
looked at properly.

Most hoof problems are not a mystery. They are a shape you can measure, on a horse that has been telling you about it for a while.

So the work is done to the numbers rather than to habit. And because the same method is used next time, you can see whether it worked. That is the difference between a farrier who says the foot looks better and one who can show you.

Every visit,
three steps.

  1. 1

    Assessed first

The feet photographed square on a levelled block and measured before anything is touched: wall angle, coronary band, pastern axis and balance.

  2. 2

Trimmed or shod to the numbers

Barefoot where barefoot is right. Shoes where the horse needs them. The foot decides, not the fashion.

  3. 3

    Checked on the level after

The balance checked again once the work is done. Photographs on request, so you have a record between cycles.

Who it’s for

Barefoot horses, performance horses in a full set, and the ones that have been sore or off for long enough that everybody has an opinion. Also yards that want one farrier on a proper cycle.

Where and when

Across the Garden Route from Wilderness Heights, on a five-week cycle for most horses and four for those that need it.

A page of a hoof report: measured angles on a photograph of the foot
Every figure comes off photographs like this one: square to the foot, on a levelled block. Shoot it the same way next time and the two can be compared.

Farriery · the written report

Hoof assessment,
comprehensive.

Everything in the basic assessment, then a written report your vet and farrier can both read.

  • Your horse’s measured angles against the published reference figures, front and hind
  • Every option in priority order, graded by how well the evidence supports it
  • What changes the same day, what takes a cycle or two, and what takes a new hoof wall
  • A written method, so the next assessment can be compared with this one
  • The references listed, so your vet can read the same material

What they said

In their words.

  • 100% Recommend Rynhardt from Horse Flow Academy. He did a trim on both my horses hooves, and transported my horses the next week from Thabazimbi to Marnitz. We received kind, and professional treatment and always got quick responses. Would recommend to anyone wanting to make use of his services!

Questions

How often does my horse need a visit?

Most horses are on a five-week cycle. Those that need it are on four.

Barefoot or shoes?

Barefoot where barefoot is right, shoes where the horse needs them. The foot decides, not the fashion.

Where do you work?

Across the Garden Route from Wilderness Heights. Travel outside the usual round is billed per kilometre and quoted before the visit.

Is the hoof report a vet diagnosis?

No. It sets measured geometry against published reference figures, so your vet and your farrier are reading the same numbers. Every clinical decision stays with your vet.
