A clear path from the thinking behind it to a horse that is soft, willing and reliable in every direction. The same progression Ray teaches on the Garden Route, wherever you live.

The path

Three steps,
in order.

Each one only comes alive once the one before it is in place.

  1. 1

    Step one · the why

    Philosophy and theory

Where everything starts: the two dimensions of communication from the book. How your horse experiences the world, and how his body answers. Understand the why, and the rest falls into place.

    • Intentions

  2. 2

    Step two · the how

    Foundation education

Where it comes alive. Built straight from the Compass: directing your horse’s feet forwards, backwards, sideways and on the diagonal, at every energy and gait, softly, willingly and reliably. Get this, and you are set up for almost anything.

  3. 3

    Step three · refinement

    Advanced education

Once the foundation is solid, take it as far as you both want to go, on the same compass, with more range, more feel and more finesse. Toward the discipline, the country or the partnership you are reaching for.

Mastering the Compass

Run the assessment yourself: read every direction, energy and gait, and understand what each result is telling you.

Just as humans can form new neural pathways through safety, trust, and experience, I’ve watched Reynard help my horses do the same. You can visibly see the shift happening in the horse, as fear patterns soften and new responses begin to emerge.
